Critical – The statement “A family that prays together stays to gather” is just as true if not more so with a church than a single-family unit. Prayer is the key that unlocks all the resources needed to regain health and to stay healthy.
Churches like the individuals of the church body have a tendency to do as Israel was warned by God.
When they became prosperous, they forgot the source of their blessings. God through Moses had repeatedly warned Israel that when they got to the Promised Land, their prosperity would become a source of pride and self-sufficiency. “When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day” (Deuteronomy 8:10-11).
The root problem with a church who is struggling is they have forgotten God in one or more of the key foundational areas of a church.
Zechariah 1:3: “Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Return to me,’ declares the LORD Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the LORD Almighty.”
2 Chron 7:14 was given to Israel the Old Testament people of God and also applies to spiritually unhealthy individuals and local congregations.
2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
