Evaluate Church’s Health

A Healthy Church is one that seeks to be focused on the following:

1. Unified in Prayer: The church has a healthy corporate prayer focus. There are a number of Scriptures that speak to the need for a church to be unified in prayer.

(Jesus Prayer) John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is ‘plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38).

Gal 6:2 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ

2. Great Commandment: Church is focused upon building a healthy relationship with God and others. Mat 22:36-10 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

3. Equipping others to serve: Church is focused on equipping its members to serve wherever He directs them.

Eph 4:11-13 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;[12]For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:[13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

4. Great Commission: Church is focused upon outreach to the un-churched.

Mat 28:16-20 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

5. Sacrificial Giving: Church as a whole provides more than enough to carry out the ministries God had directed the local church to preform.

If a church is unified in seeking to follow God it should find itself in the same position that Moses and Israel were found in Exodus 36:5 And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.

The results from the above will be demonstrated in a positive trend in the numerical areas such as attendance, membership, discipleship, and stewardship.
